2026 Mini Workshops with Nova FCT at Crossjoin
Bridging Academia and Industry:
Last Friday, September 11th, we opened the doors of our DOJO3 Auditorium for an afternoon dedicated to innovation, with some Mini Workshops with Nova FCT students on the topic of artificial intelligence, and the future of software engineering. We had the distinct pleasure of hosting Professor Nuno Marques and his computer science students from NOVA FCT for a dynamic, two-hour's focused on exchanging cutting-edge ideas.
The session was designed as an open knowledge-sharing environment, allowing us to see firsthand the impressive academic research currently being developed at NOVA FCT, while also sharing our own industrial perspective.

The Academic Perspective: Exploring Next-Gen AI
The students and faculty took the stage to present their latest projects, diving deep into advanced foundational models and architectural concepts. The academic lineup included:
The Industrial Perspective: Spec-Driven Development
To complement the academic research, we brought our own industry experience into the mix. Crossjoin's Tiago Modesto took the stage to deliver a comprehensive presentation on Spec-driven development.
By sharing practical methodologies used in our daily operations, we aimed to give the students a clear view of how conceptual software engineering translates into robust, enterprise-level solutions. The session wrapped up with a broader discussion on Open & Industrial GenAI Tools, highlighting how both students and professionals can leverage these rapidly evolving technologies.
Cultivating the Future of Tech
Bridging the gap between university research and industrial application is a core part of our DNA at Crossjoin. This mini-workshop was a fantastic opportunity to listen, learn, and see the incredible talent emerging from NOVA FCT.
Thank you to Professor Nuno Marques, the presenting students, and every Crosser who dropped by the DOJO3 Auditorium to support this initiative.
We look forward to hosting more collaborative sessions in the near future!
